Problem Nicole has difficulty learning maths concept and computation. She cannot think with numbers. She has been labeled "dyscalculia" or as having a mathematics disorder. Despite many efforts, Nicole cannot process maths concepts, "remember" maths facts, or do word problems.

Cause A primary cause of maths difficulties is an inability to image and verbalise the concepts underlying maths processes. Individuals attempt to memorise facts instead of being able to think, reason, and problem solve with numbers.

Solution

The On Cloud Nine™ Maths: A Visualizing and Verbalizing™ Maths Program developed by Kimberly Tuley and Nanci Bell, successfully stimulates the ability to image and verbalise the concepts underlying maths processes. Concept and Numeral imagery are integrated with language and applied to maths computation and problem solving. There is emphasis on both mathematical reasoning and mathematical computation. Individuals of all ages learn to do and enjoy maths.
